Frontman talks new single “Use My Voice,” encourages Americans to vote
Evanescence encourages speaking up in the new single “Use My Voice,” the latest offering from the band’s upcoming album The Bitter Truth, out later this year.
“Cover my ears and close my eyes/Just long enough to stop the noise,” Amy Lee sings over subtle instrumentation. “Go and take everything and throw it away/But I will use my voice.” The song erupts into a chorus featuring several female vocalists, including Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale, Taylor Momsen of The Pretty Reckless, Sharon den Adel of Within Temptation, and violinist Lindsey Stirling. Lee’s sisters Carrie South and Lori Lee Bulloch, guitarist Troy McLawho’s wife Amy McLawhorn, and the song’s co-writer Deena Jakoub of Veridia also lend a hand on the track.Continue reading Evanescence’s Amy Lee: ‘It’s Time for Us to Take Our Country Back’
Taylor Momsen, Lzzy Hale, Lindsey Stirling, Sharon den Adel and others join Evanescence on new song from forthcoming album The Bitter Truth
Evanescence and front woman Amy Lee are back with their new single and unique musical event, “Use My Voice,” out today. Listen here.
Featuring a line-up of bad-ass women who lent their voices to the anthemic chorus in the song, “Use My Voice” was written to celebrate the power of speaking out in order to promote a more just world.
Amy Lee said: “This is an era of awakening, and full of powerful beauty. I hope to inspire others to seek truth, find their own voices and use them as I step up to use mine. Don’t let anybody speak for you. Only you can do that.”
Amy’s top-notch crew of collaborators on “Use My Voice” are:
- Taylor Momsen of The Pretty Reckless
- Lzzy Hale of Halestorm
- Violinist Lindsey Stirling
- Deena Jakoub of Veridia (long-time friend of Amy’s and co-writer of the song)
- Sharon den Adel of Within Temptation
- Amy’s sisters: Carrie South and Lori Lee Bulloch
- Amy McLawhorn, wife of Evanescence guitarist Troy McLawhorn

“Use My Voice” follows “Wasted on You” and “The Game is Over”as the third track to be released early from The Bitter Truth, Evanescence‘s forthcoming new album, the first containing all new material in nearly a decade. The Elle, Rolling Stone, and New York Times-lauded, self-shot while-in-quarantine video for “Wasted on You” was recently nominated for “Best Rock” at the coming MTV Video Music Awards, and The Bitter Truth promises fans more of the heavy, vocal-driven, and expertly-arranged rock for which Evanescence is known.

Evanescence’s Amy Lee has posted a thoughtful statement after being asked in an interview about “the lack of women historically on rock radio and in the mainstream rock world”.
After being asked in a recent interview about “the lack of women historically on rock radio and in the mainstream rock world”, Evanescence’s Amy Lee has posted a statement addressing the truth of that question, as well as empowering those who are “changing the game” in the genre.
Amy took to Facebook to admit that she “couldn’t think of anything good to say in the moment” when she was initially asked about women in rock, but that she since “thought about it for a long time after”, writing down her reflections based on over 20 years in music.
“Honestly, women do get skipped over,” she begins. “We do get left out of the recap when it all boils down. It is harder to make it onto the cover or the radio. Because our face is not the classic, quintessential face of rock… if you’re thinking of it as a literal face. I think it’s embedded subconsciously in our brains that women in rock are less authentic somehow, like we’re next gen. We’re part 2. Not the original. A niche little off-brand thing.”Continue reading Amy Lee posts Empowering Statement Addressing “The Lack of Women in the Mainstream Rock World”
